MN DNR Wildland Fire Training
The MN DNR is offering Wildland Fire Training March 14-18, 2016 in Rm 110 Green Hall on the St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota. This training consists of three courses:
- L-180 Human Factors on the Fireline
- S-130 Firefighter Training
- S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior
The deadline for application has passed. Those interested in taking Wildland Fire Training should consult the MN DNR Training Calendar for alternative course dates. These courses will be offered again in March 2017 on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota.
Following the MN DNR Wildland Fire Training, students may take Chainsaw Usage and Safety Training on Saturday, March 19, 2016. This course is also free of charge. It is taught by faculty and staff in the Department of Forest Resouces and takes place in Room 110 Green Hall on the St. Paul campus. Content covers saws, maintenance, safety gear, positioning, and techniques for safe and effective bucking and felling. This classroom coverage is followed by hands-on field training in bucking and felling at the St. Paul campus urban forestry site.
The course is full. Those interested in taking Chainsaw Usage and Safety Training may do so in the spring of 2017.
