Areas of Interest

Timber harvesting may cause impacts to the site or residual stand.  To mitigate those impacts, there are a variety of alternate operational strategies (e.g., best management practices/forest management guidelines) or equipment options (e.g., low-impact technologies) that may be applied.  Applying those alternate strategies and options may result in increased costs, benefits, or decreased productivity for natural resource managers and loggers.  Before applying the alternate  strategies and options, decisionmakers need information about site-level impacts, costs, benefits, and changes in productivity associated with their application.

My primary research and outreach interests are in identifying and evaluating alternate timber harvesting operational strategies and equipment options.  Assessments are made of the site-level impacts and changes in the productivity, costs, or benefits for natural resource managers and loggers.
