Letter from the Head

Mike Kilgore, Professor and HeadSpring is a busy and exciting time in the Department of Forest Resources. Faculty, staff and students are wrapping up the semester; students are preparing for field training at the Cloquet Forestry Center and summer employment; and seniors are anticipating graduation and their next adventure in life. In short, it is a time of change. This is also a time of change for Forest Scene. As you probably noticed if you receive the newsletter in print form, it received a major “facelift.” The goal of the redesign is to make the publication more visually appealing and increase its shelf life, be it on your kitchen table, countertop or coffee table. Additionally, we want to make sure that the stories you read spark your interest, keep you informed and inspire you to stay connected.

We want to hear from you about how we can further improve the newsletter. I would greatly appreciate if you would take a few minutes to complete an online survey which you can find at z.umn.edu/FRstories. Tell us what stories you like to read, what kind of stories are missing and how we can improve the way that you receive future issues of the newsletter. There are so many great stories to be told about Forest Resources’ community, and that includes you! We want to make sure the stories we tell are the ones you want to read and your stories are told too. Thank you in advance for taking time to help us improve Forest Scene for you.
